i have a nice top end pioneer telly which does max 1080i, and my ps3 connected via the official sony Hdmi cable which was about £20, its not gold plated but the pins are!

is it worth spending the money on a expensive cable??
what sort of difference will i notice???

i have xmen 3 on normal dvd and borrowed a friends blu-ray version, and when i compare them after watching each one for 5mins or so, the difference is not that great to be honest well in terms of the price difference and what i expected from that anyway, blu-ray is about triple the price lol so i thought maybe the hdmi cable may help??

What is the actual res of the tv, not what the max res it'll take as an input.

The difference between a dvd and even 720 should be massive.

Are you sure you've got your PS3 setup to output HD correctly?

The fact it's digital means it either works or it doesn't. If you're losing data you'll really know about it (like when freeview/sky breaks up and the sound stutters). A better quality cable wouldn't improve colours or detail.

I'm using a £15 cable and the difference between DVD and Bluray is unreal!

Um what model is it?

Is it the TV that's telling you it's running at 576p and 1080i?
