Stay clear of BT, its a nightmare if you have a problem needing fixed. Our broadband connection broke. It took them over a week and 7 phone calls each lasting over an hour, to Indian robots who would insist that you go through the whole troubleshooting process each time you phoned, before they eventually sent an engineer to our house to look at the problem!!!

That's strange....We're with bt and have had no problems with them.
A couple of times our connection was down, but fixed again within minutes of being on the phone to them.

Fee it was a nightmare!!! Honestly everytime mum phoned she was on the phone for over an hour speaking to an Indian who couldn't understand her and she couldn't understand them!!! Eventually after a week without the connection they said it was a line fault and agreed to send out an engineer When the engineer did eventually arrive, he said it wasn't a line fault at all, it was a fault with the modem and that we would be charged for his visit

We were the same. We'd never had any problems up until then, but when we did have a problem they let us down badly!!!

BT - Shit support, expensive imo
Virgin - seem ok,
Sky - mate has no problems, think you need to sky package to have it though

Tesco - Good, no problems, fast connections etc
Pipex - Just signed up to them

Got BT at the moment. Not bad but for some reason i have to reset the router from time to time randomly. Expensive tho!

Had Orange. What a pile of shite! Had to change cos i was offline more than i was on.

Looking for a cheaper one soon tho, or one that throws in some extras such as Sky.

I've been with BT since i first got dial-up and they have been fine until lately. I upgraded from 2mb to 8mb broadband recently and had all sorts of problems. I had the same experience as Jade's mum when contacting them although i only had to speak with them a couple of times. All sorted now tho and so far its been ace.

But Be Broadband (bethere.co.uk) is suppose to be one of the best at the moment

I just checked and I can get broadband in my area so I will be getting the phone line put on the making a decision as to who to go with

For Postcode PR9 8FL

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial check on your postcode indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate up to 512Kbps. However, due to the length of your line, an engineer visit may be required, who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

Our check also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 500Kbps or greater.

The actual ADSL Max line rate supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use, after which time the highest stable rate possible will be set.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

Thank you for your interest.

Definitely agree with you on this one! They're a complete nightmare when it comes to dealing with a problem.
Heard mixed things about Sky aswell (more bad than good tbh) And AOL are suppposed to good as well

Not actually that bad for me TBH. Occasionally the service drops, or i can't connect, but it usually sorts itself out within an hour. Customer service was pretty helpful too when I fudged trying to get a better deal on their internet site (stupid web and talk package - presumed i could just ignore it but it actually meant you'd changed call providers) and dad got a letter though saying goodbye from BT .
