In that case then ed people should be looking into buying a k&n filter and making a carbon fibre heat shield?

Then that would be a good filter?

How does carbon fibre reflect heat? it's black and therefore would absorb the heat. It's made using an epox or polyester resin which is a plastic and therefore an insulator, but not a very good one at that. It would be better than metal, but behave in the same way as any other plasic.

You'd be better off using a bit of fibreglass or plastic or something and using some high temperature insulating material, much like the stuff used on heat shields and things on the car.

They are just made because people like the way the material looks. it does look pretty cool when layed up nicely using a high quality weave. BUT, not a lot of products use that kind of carbon. The Viper doesn't use particuly nice looking carbon at all.

Thats true superlite then it defeats the object of buying a reasonably priced air filter

Dont you just wish at times you had a r/r of your own. oh well

So is the Forza one likely to let the heat in? I guess you'd place the cold air feed behind the grill then?

To be honest it doesn't feel any different

BUT

watching the revs it does looks like it pulls through them without any flat spots. I think in sweltering summer temps. it will be a god send over the old open cone filter. Sounds abit better too...

all in all, i do think this is better than the standard airbox and the open cone filter i had on before, but at the same time im glad i spent £40 and not £200
