What's the difference in the 2 engines as standard?
Is it a noticeable difference when you put your foot down?
How much can you pick up XE or LET's for?
Does having a LET instead of XE make the conversion more expensive/harder?
How much roughly would all the bits for the conversion be?
Thankyou

My opinion the LETs a harder conversion as theres more bits to cram in, more bits to go wrong. But you do get the difference when you put your foot down.
I did my conversion about 3 or 4 years ago so my prices are way out.

physically its pretty much the same apart from some boost pipes and an intercooler. id say personally its no harder to do a let than an xe just a couple hours more on the pipes etc.

What's the difference in the 2 engines as standard?
: xe is n/a let has a turbo
Is it a noticeable difference when you put your foot down?
: depends which engine you have but yes
How much can you pick up XE or LET's for?
: xe can be brought from 200-600, lets for 1200-1500
Does having a LET instead of XE make the conversion more expensive/harder?
: not really, as muppet said more pipe work due to the intercooler
How much roughly would all the bits for the conversion be?
depends on how much you can source the parts/engine for, if you can fit it your self or if you no people that can fit it
: xe could be done on a tight £1000 which would not include much re-build work
: let could be done on about £2000 which is scrapping the barrel on costs
Thankyou
: welcome

lee mitchell is a conversion god, he can make mounts from bits of the dartford bridge, he can make engines work without a key, the list could go on...loads of people on here have used him inc me, if there is something that he doesnt no, it aint worth knowing ! drop him a u2u on sourcing and fitting...

although you have to shorten a part of the linkage, and swap speedo drive cogs on the diff to make the speedo read abut right, still not that much harder. and worth doing to fit a turbo engine.
