RECENTLY FINISHED CONVERTION, BUT ENGINE IDLES UP AND DOWN THEN WHEN IT GETS HOT IT OVERHEATS AND THE FAN DOES NOT CUT IN.IVE CHANGED RAD FAN SWITCH, DONE PAPER CLIP TEST FAN WORKS THEN OK.COULD IT BE TEMPERATURE SENSOR?TEMP GAUGE READS UP TO 98 THEN OVERHEATS

CTS only lets the ECU know the temp of the engine. Doubt it would be that.

Idling - Dodgy ICV.
Overheating - Airlock?

Im fitting new cts tomorrow,when car is running heaters blow hot so dont think air lock is the problem,checked fuse ok.Thanks for your replys.

CTS has no effect on the cooling system at all. it provides the ECU with a coolant temp reading.

Yep changed cts and temp gauge sensor still no go,so went for a quick drive in it,,,first time since conversion and it seamed to clear a air lock.Not over heating now but its idling to 1500rpm and dropping to about 1000rpm,possible ICV???

was the ICV brand new or was it 2nd hand?

Did you clean it?

also it could be a small air leak had the same problem on my old xe was the vacum hose..that was doin it

didnt read that bit. well in that case its 1 of 2 things, either the rad switch not switching or the coolant not getting to the rad.

read the signal from the switch as it gets warm to see if its getting hot coolant to it with the thermostat in and out. chances are the stat isnt opening and letting coolant through to the rad.

Yes fan now working,but its idling still up and down???
