When I click send/receive messages, it comes up with an error and won't pick up my mail

I've tried disabling my anti virus stuff, but it didn't do anything

Just recently started happening? Have you checked your settings? It could be down to your mail provider, I've had it in the past then it started working again.

I battered my laptop a couple of times and it works now
