Hey!

Having trouble at work.

We can't seem to work out how to connect a wireless laptop to the domain without logging in locally to inititate the wireless connection, then logging out again and going back in as a domain user.

Is there anyway to inititate a wireless connection before logging into a user account?

Are you trying to apply the wireless security settings in Active Directory?

No...

When the PC/laptop boots up, your are required to log into your user account on the domain.

This isn't currently possible as the wireless connection will only connect with the network once the user has logged in.

So basically, the user can't log in because the laptop is offline, and the laptop can't connect to the network because the user isn't logged in.

The only way we can get this to work is by logging in as a local user, which will allow the wireless connection to activate, then logging off from the local account and joining the domain.

you log them into the domain first give them back the laptop and it should be able to login even though the wireless isnt active

Doesn't seem to work...

Error says can't find domain.

Edit: Does work, but doesn't give user access to al permission and shared drives once wireless connection is active, so they still have to log off and back in again.

Are you using wireless zero config to control the wireless?

Windows built in wireless tool can connect before logon.

If its a 3rd party tool such as intel proset it can't.

Update to latest driver and make sure the 3rd party utility is set to let Windows manage wireless connections.
