Hi all,

Not sure what to do, i have got the useful guide on how to prep and paint trim parts of here but i have the haynes modification manuel and it says to use meth to clean the parts, primer then paint where as the guide of here says you have to sand them down, clean, prime then paint etc

So what i want to ask is, what will the difference be in the two methods? Or is there no point to one of them?

Cheers all

id also like to know this as im thinking of painting my arches and bumper trim satin black to save the hassle of using black to black all the time and to stop them fading.

The arch trims etc are usually sanded down to remove the mottled effect.

Other than that, sanding other trim parts will give the primer something to key to.

Thats all i can think of.

i found with doing the arch trims, that just cleaning them up nicely, them key the surface with a bit of scotch brigt/brillow pad, till its gone a dull grey colour, then clean them with meths and give them about 6 to 8 boats of paint, i went for the mottled look tho to keep it looking standard, been on the car for over 6 months now, gone through countless car washes and they are still as good as the day they were sprayed!
