spec they made me
main stuff
core2quad q9300
asus 775 commando
x/vision 256mb 8600gts
giel 4gb ddr2 cl 6.0 memory
2 x WD 500gb 7200r
cant help but think i can get better/faster say graphics card and memory but not clued up about the stuff.
main use is for photoshop so needs to be fast for processing stuff. current machine is far too slow athlon 2800

Apple Mac computers offer outstanding performance when music, photography software etc...
I changed to Mac not so long ago and I think it's excellent! Far better than any windows running pc I think.
If I was you I would get a macbook priced at £699. But if you can go a bit higher the iMac is perfect for your sort of thing.
Might sound a bit daunting changing OS, but it's surprisingly easy.
Check out there website!

for 800 quid they are mugging you off.
the q9300 is a very good chip.
8600gts is a piss poor card - cvision arent the most reputable of companies either. look at a bliss or BFG 8800GTS
the asus commando isnt a 1333 board either, and not even sure if it supports the 45nm without a bios update, an asus p5k-e would be better.
geil is good memory, but unless you have vista 64 you will only recognise 3gb on normal vista.
you dont mention the PSU either, this is where most companies make there money, give you a shit PSU.
self build is much easier than you think, and much much cheaper

Retail comes with a heatsink and oem doesnt, think thats right anyway. You will probably want a better cooler than the stock one anyway.
