Am at minute trying to selling my Corsa sport 1.6. Car is in great nick with loads of history, nearly new Softstar alloys and is at a giveaway price I think.
2 people I've had interested in car have both said they'd buy car in a flash, but have both been quoted £2k plus for insurance as car is group 10, and they're 18 & 19. How can 1.4 16v be group 5, and 1.6 be group 10. In real terms there is very little difference between the two, so for there to be 5 insurance groups difference, WTF??!!
Just a bit of a rant,
cheers peeps,
Kev................

Can understand the VTR and VTS tbh. These cars are worlds apart performance-wise, whereas I honestly don't think 1.6 is much quicker than my wifes corsa c 1.4 sri. Unless I've just got used to the car and how it performs...

They don't judge the insurance group on how fast the car goes. There are lots of different factors. Its basically a risk assessment.
I would guess security and popularity with youngsters has a bif bearing on groupings.

Also the cost of fixing or writing off the car comes into the equation.

Every insurance company rates different cars at different groups, tell them to keep digging around for a good quote, should find a company to slaughter that price easily.
