i no im goin to be told to move this to help but i thought ive got more chance on gettin an answer in gc
anyway a friend of mine have a 1.4 sport started it yesterday to go to work got 10 yards down the road and cut out aa came out and said its sumthing to do with imboliser
you put the keys in the ignition and no lights cum on the dash but everything else works i.e stiero lights heater and so on any1 have any ideas to this is it the transponder not registering the chip as i thought it would still have dash lights just the eml would flash any help would be great thanks

Has it had an alarm/immobiliser fitted? its not the factory fitted transponder immobiliser causing the problem because like you say, you should have the dash lights on and a flashing ECU light

i think it has thinkin about that and im sure her bf fuked it up about 6 munths ago so it dosnt work anymre thanks luke ima look into that

hiya all this is actually my car danny is taking about!!
I usedto have an alarm but my ex messed it up a while back an it has been taken out!! The car has been fine running good etc but js randomly cut out starte dup fine tll i got 10 yrads dwn the road!!
the car is turning over jus no ignition lights!! just really conuse on the whole matter! if any one can help would e a great help xx

Check all the fuses first but it depends how good a job he did of "removing" it, all the connections need to be joined togethere where the immobiliser was fitted. If all the fuses check out ok then take the plastic guard off around the steering column and see if you can see where the wires were cut for the immobiliser

right well all fuses are fine and plus he didnt cut any wires under there i had a seperte lil box under my passenger foot well that was to do with the alarm!!!
Wen my friend short circuted my electric windows to put em up te dash lights came on but the engine management light was flashing!!
I have a new whoe new colum ordered and ecu etc as i was told tha was the prob

well.....
changed the transponder and the ecu and it is all still the same no ignition lights nothing its turning over but just not starting hmmmm.... can anyone esle think of wat the problem cud b? x

If you have a flashing ECU light then thats the built in immobiliser. No real reason why it should stop accepting your key unless you've dropped it and the chip has fallen out though. And the reason your new ECU wont work is because you need to have a matching ECU, Chipe and transponder pickup for it to all work

no it hasnt been dropped or n e thing and all the transponder and ecu barrel and key were all off the same corsa they were all matching jus didnt make any differece!!! so where wud i find the built in immobiliser and how wud i fix it?? Jus buy a new 1?? xx

I dont mean the ignition barrel, as well as the chip and ECU the black plastic ring around the barrel with the wires going to it all have to be from the same car. did you swap that over as well? The built in immobiliser is part of the ECU and you cant bypass it unless you send it away to an ECU specialist
