recently got o2 broadband after being on ye olde pigeon carrier broadband for years.
its there up to 8mb package.
now, the girl on the phone when i ordered said my line can get 9mb, which i thought excellent, i'll get 8 or thereabouts.
been speed testing it for a week, 2.2mb and the site i'm doing it on says i can get up to 6, which i'd be happy with.
phoned o2, said to try the main phone socket, which i did, still 2.2.
any ideas?

what service was you on previously? 56k or DSL?
If its a newly activated DSL line it can take a few days to settle itself out.
Also each nite for a couple of nights, power down the router, unplug for a minute or two and reconnect up. you should see it increase over a day or two.
How far from the exchange are you? is it a new house or really old house? all this has to be taken into consideration.

Should be plugged straight into the main point with filters on any phone in the house, preferably not on the end of a massive extension.
