Hey guys. I'm new here but was wondering if you could help me out with a slight electrical issue.
My car is a 1.2, 8v '98 Corsa, the old variety corsa, not the '98 onwards type.
I had a crap headunit, after some tossers stole my decent one, and due to an accidental earth, I have burnt off the insulation for the red wire in the corsa wiring loom. Don't ask why the fuse didn't go. Anyway, I am trying to trace the wire back till it has good insulation to replace it, however there is no space to work without dismantling the whole interior, which I am reluctant to do. So I was just wondering, does anybody know where the red wire to the head unit splits off from the interior light, horn etc. For some reason, my head unit runs off fuse 1 as opposed to 18(thankyou haynes).
Either that or could someone tell me what I need to wire it to to bypass the old wire. I have connectors and such to do the work. I have yet to work out if the red wire is the earth, or the ignition activated earth due to some Vauxhalls having funny wiring(I think it is just the straight, live all the time, wire). So, any good spots to take the wire off.
I'm also installing a central locking kit and need a 20 amp fused circuit, always live, for it however I must admit, I can't read circuit diagrams like the ones in Haynes.
Cheers for any help you can offer guys,
Dave
