Basically I have an old pc in my loft, 15'' flat screen, pentium 4 processor, 525mg ram, 80gb etc - Is it worth reformatting as my GF needs a new pc as her's is even more ancient. I don't want to go through the hassle of sorting it if it really isn't anygood nowadays?  Would it be worth fitting more ram?

Depends, it will still run XP fine and if its only used for internet and office tasks then it should be fine. More ram wouldnt hurt and should only be about £10 - £20 to get it up to 1gb / 1.5gb

Yeah she'll only want it for internet and emails tbh. Will give it a go then

Should be fine but yes, more RAM would improve it as suggested.
