looking for a new media player for my bedroom setup.
list of all needs are below, cheers
- Must have HDMI out (pretty standard now)
- Must have opitcal out/coax out for sound through DTS and dolby digital (compatibility with DTS HD MA and DolbytrueHD would be an advanatage for furture profing)
- Must be compatible with my western digital NFTS formatted external HDD
- Must support MKV playback
- Budget around £200 (do not want a hdd)
Not to fussed about looks - Have consider the Dvico TViX M-6500a and htis seems the most likley option which meets my demands but it is exspnsive at £300 (w/out hdd), other option is Popcorn hour A110 but its not compatible with my hdd and i need my hdd to be compaitble with my vista laptop so a reformat is not an option
cheers

If it's only because it can't read NTFS, vista can deal with a FAT drive,

Thats exactly what I did at my mums place. 2 x 1TB drives, HDMI out, SPDIF out, does the job perfectly running on win XP home. I got this case off ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Zalman-HD160XT-HTPC-Media-Centre-Desktop-Case-Black_W0QQitemZ330237559573QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_DesktopComponents_RL?hash=item330237559573&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1431%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
but to be honest the extra screen is a gimmick, if I were to ever build another I would get one without the screen built in. Lovely case otherwise though!
