Guys need a big help here just got a letter from Davenport Lyons acting on behalf of some digiprotect saying that i downloaded a scooter albumon such and such a day and what not and i need to pay 500 quid in damages where do i stand on this it was downloaded as far as im aware and it was downloaded on 17.04.08 its got an ip address not sure if its mine and p2p protocol bittorent
where do i stand proper advice please

Ive been putting this on these forums for a couple of months now, people laughed at me and told me they couldnt get tracked

Who laughed at you danny, it's easy to track you, they just need to look at all the ip's on a torrent client.
It's getting the details of who owned that ip that was normally the problem but it seems to be getting slightly easier.
I'd pay up though so you don't have to admit you downloaded scooter.

Probly didnt get laughed at on here, I told some people I go to uni with who are known downloaders and they seemed to laugh it off.
Basically if you pay up and sign the undertaking theyve sent you you open yourself up to more and more and mroe of these letters whenever they feel like it

Looks like these guys are suing the people that share the files, not the people that just download them (and then presumably delete them off their BT clients 'shared' files lists?):
