The fan comes on as soon as you start the car up?

If so, sounds like the fan switch in the radiator is stuck on. New ones don't cost that much

Yeah sounds like a fan switch problem, theyre only about a tenner, fix that before you worry about your temp being all over the place

Vauxhall still sell them I think, probably best to try them first but they arent hard to get hold of from motor factors

could also be coolant temp sensor as the fan will run all times as the ecu dosent know temp of car and fan always runs as a fail safe to protect it

Nope, ECU has no control over the cooling fan

The ECu reads the engine temperature and adjusts the fuel/timing accordingly. It does not tell the fan when to come in at least on a corsa, and im certain it doesnt on the cav/calibra.

Ive re wired many conversions and the ECU has absolutley no like to the fan

yep ecu has nothing to do with fan control it cant there is a physical switch screwed into the side of the radiator. CTS as will only adjust the fueling.
