you can buy them unlocked from ebay, but its dead easy to do it yourself. google it...oh and the 3g one has been ubnlocked but only on a certain base band, tools released new years eve

Got an 02 contract atm but on my upgrade just got a free laptop instead of a phone. Want a new phone now.

Yes the PAYG one should work with your contract SIM, do you have free internet on your contract though? If not, you'll need to pay for it to use the online functions of the iPhone (email, web, any applications that go online).

I presume the Wifi would be free...but O2 would probably do a 12 month free internet use bolt on if you asked nicely...

You could also change your tarrif to the iPhone ones with free net 
£35 a month gets you 600 mins, 500 texts & free net
