thinking of getting an ipod nano but what actually comes in the boxes?
does itunes (as much as i hate it but i do want it now  )
and chargers come in the boxes??
just that iirc boxes are really small

Ipod, headphones and a usb cable.
You can only charge it via usb without buying an extra charger.

yes, as John said. You download Itunes and create an account from there.
There are no disc's nor chargers which was a surprise to me at first, but i understand why now

Newer ipods (the new 4G nano and touches etc) can only be charged via usb. In-car interfaces, docking stations etc won't charge them

use winamp (or the hundreds of other media players) if you don't want to use itunes.
Only real reason to use iTunes is to update the ipod/ipod touch etc
