Right, I'm trying to make my girlfriends apartment wireless so I can use my puss3 online. So I borrowed a Netgear Wireless ADSL modem router, model DG834G. So I connected everything up as per the manual (and as per was obvious), but when connecting the PC to the router it doesn't appear to do anything. There are 4 LAN ports on the router, and whichever one you use to connect to the PC is meant to light up, but it doesn't.
What's the dealio?
I tried numerous different ways and 2 different filters (not that I suspect it's that) but nothing. The internet light is on, as is the power light, and the signal light. But nothing for the LAN ports.
Any help appreciated as I want to play my geek mates on t'internet

Your PC network card disabled?
Start>Settings>Network Connections>Local Area Connection.
Should see it Enable if it's been disabled.

Gav: Not sure how to check that.
Allan: That was actually disabled, so I enabled it but to no avail.
Deadude: Must be the cable then tbh. I'll try another one and report back.
Aaron: No

Also, I noticed that the Tiscali internet connection she has connects through the current Modem (see below)
It doesn't let me change it either, would that be an issue?

Shouldn't be.
You can disable that connection, and then it will connect through the router. Once the router's up and running properly, of course.

You can add/remove the whole speedtouch software from the control panel. I had that when first on BT.
I'd deffo try another cable. You using the one that came with the router or another?.

Delete any reference to Tiscali, modems or broadband on the computer.
You are on a Local Area Connection with the router, which must be enabled and should ideally be set to obtain an IP address automatically although the router may have been reconfigured in the past to not do this, which could cause the problem.
If you've got the connection username and password then use the reset pin on the back of the router and get everything going automatic again.
