hi,
Did a fresh install of vista last night. but i keep getting random crashes.

spec:
pentiumD 940
biostar gf7100p mobo
4gb samsung ddr2 800mhz

ive tried a memory test, but it crashes midway.
remove 1 mem stick and i get bsod

would you say bad memory?

did a memory test, failed at 90% this time...
but detected hardware problems

Are you using the memory in dual channel? Also, what configuration is it? E.g. 4x 1GB, 2x 2GB.

yep, dual channel. 2x 2gb

Ok. Try running it single channel if your board would let you, then try one stick at a time, making sure that it's in slot 1 or 0, whatever your manufacturer calls the first one

Its duff memory
emailed the seller (through ebay) componants4all.
there fix was to reduce it to 677mhz...

now it works fine.

but, i payed for 800mhz grrr

Tell them that what you sold them is not doing what it's supposed to so you want a replacement
