... From your ISP
See im with Tiscali atm
and im recently attempted to go from 2mb business broadband to 8mb (for £1 cheaper!) but as i 'download' too much they would not let me!? It took them 6 weeks to let me know this aswell after a number of emails / phonecalls and online upgrade attemps.
I want to leave Tiscali asap and join someone like Sky as ive heard good things about them but need my MAC address... I have around 3-4 months left on my contract (a lifetime on 2mb!) and use the internet daily along with the 3 other people and 3 other pcs in my house.

MAC codes are for moving ISP, call up your current ISP and request it.

MAC Address is a code unique to your network interface device hardware
MAC Code is your migration access code which is used for switching ISPs, check the following URL but don't get confused with MAC Address and MAC Code when you're enquiring about this, you might get led off track

and Big Mac's are Mcdonald's sorry excuse for a burger. Ask for one of these and I doubt you'll be moving ISP's soon .

Aye just ring them up and ask for it. I just did the same thing with Eclipse, I was with Nildram for years but Tiscali bought them out and it turned shit so i migrated to eclipse, then I found out that they are also related to Tiscali and im getting about 0.5mbps during the daytime on a 2mbps line! Just got MAC code and now I think we are gonna migrate to...

What are the speeds like? Our line synchs at the full 8mbps, but with eclipse we were down to 388kbps down and 366kbps up during the daytime, it was taking the piss

I get the full 8 meg on my line and real life downloads to match, never been close to the 30 gig peak limit either, I just set most stuff to download offpeak.

Same as me then - it seems to be nearlly maxed out all the time during off peak.
This is test ive just done, ill try another tonight during off peak. Hopefully they will start upgrading them as loads of people seem to be complaining at the moment.
