One leaves you feeling negative when you get to the end of the film like Cloverfield. The other is much more positive, like Mamma mia.

think its the different "formats" (dont know if thats the correct term) i.e. a DVD+R can only be written to by a DVD+R writer and vice verser. However 98% of drives are DVD±R so shouldnt be a problem.
HOWEVER, im not 99% sure of this so dont take it as exactly correct

not sure if im right but what i find some DVD-Rs dont work in DVD players so i always buy the +s and ive never had any problems with any ive burnt in a lot of DVD players

Some players only play one format so you'll need to check. Pretty much anything new will play either though.
