I've got an SXI DTi . I got it in January, and I don't want to do anything to invalidate the warranty. Also, I cannot be bothered to change bits over each time I take it back to vauxhall for anything.

So I am looking at the Vauxhall 'Sports silencer with twin round tailpipes - stainless steel'. I *think* it is the same on as on the irmscher site, some1 please confirm? :-

The price is £276.00 including fitting extra. And obviously the warranty should be unaffected.

Has anyone got this exhaust? How does it sound?

Also, in general, what difference do better exhausts usually make to diesels. And does anyone know if this is just the backbox, or if it is the whole fat pipe system thing ?

Cheers

i have the irmscher exhaust on my corsa C 1.2sxi, although its quieter then exhausts from peco,janspeed...etc its still got a very nice sporty exhaust note to it,

The other main attractions to these exhausts are that it really improves the look of the car from the rear and of course it dosnt invalidate the warranty,

u can find it cheaper from Leicester motorfactors 01858 433 599 (these are a vauxhall approved dealer and the exhaust should be alot cheaper than buying direct from vauxhall.

you dont have to buy from vauxhall

parts of a better quality than the original part will not invalidate the warranty.

you exhaust anit covered in the warranty anyhow

I bought my 1.4 16v corsa sport from a vauxhall dealership second hand and they gave me a years warranty, i started moddin straight away got a 4inch backbox from RAGE and new alloys. Then my B pillar cracked and it was a warrenty claim and they fixed it anyway... Check with Vauxhall to see if it would invalidate your warranty...It may just invalidate the exhaust if anything were to go wrong with that bit everythin else should be covered

Thanks a lot

They do it for £224 !

Cheers m8

My mum's being gay about it at the moment, saying if i can afford to spend that amount of money on an exhaust, then i can afford to pay the same amount towards my tuition fees

She doesn't understand the need to 'wharrrrpppppp', my dad does tho

£224 a lot of money for a backbox... especially when its identical (well except it'll have "Sebring" on the pipes rather than "Irmscher") to one you can get from Sebring, that'll look and sound the same... cause it is the same....

Irmscher stuff is bloody expensive, u do get good quality but they abuse the fact that their vauxhalls sports dep. and so bump up the price

i would by another decent backbox or system from an aftermarket company, like scorpion or magnex

Thanks , I'm just looking at that Sebring now. very good pr
ice

The main thing is though, I dont want to invalidate any of the warranty really.

Ill give em a ring tomorrow and see what exactly would happen if I replaced it with a non-vauxhall part .

lexmaul is to opel as irmscher is to vauxhall isn't it ?

In which case you'd expect lexmaul not to affect the warranty?

pvdnet does a lexmaul twin round back box for £180, I assume that includes VAT, doesnt say...

The whole system is £274.

*Is the exhaust I said about at the very top the whole system?* - if so then it doesn't seem that expensive compared to other ones .... ?

it shouldn't matter what exhaust u get, as long as its from the converter bak (catbak) the warranty isnt void. well thats how it works here. u just gotta worry about noise restrictions. (they're like the gastapo here)

Balls, i know it was one of the two , but went for Sebring, as they seem to like the little laser cut logos on the tailpipes too

Just got back from Vauxhall - that irmscher one is only the back box ??

What are the advantages of a complete 'exhaust system' ?

Is it worth paying like £100+ for the whole system ?
