Had MOT today and it failed on emissions.

Iv changed the lambda and Cooland temperature sensor, CAT is all in one piece as it doesnt get used alot due to decat being in.

So what do I change next? Any ideas?

MOT guy said that 1 second it would be overfueling and next it would drop down. Told me to change the CTS, I did and it got better but still not there.

Please help

He has tried that. Keeping the revs high then letting it drop, take readings, FAIL. Tried about 5 times and wouldnt come down. Said its a sensor probably.

Let me know the outcome. Im gunna try some wynns additive for the next one and then I dont know what. He thinks its a sensor because the way it varies but doesnt know what one.

Going to take it to a 'specialist' tomorrow to see what he thinks of the figures. Try get some free advice.

i really need the car to be looked at by someone whos a specialist, i ned to know if its getting the correct fuel pressure at the injectors, are the injector times constant and not al over the place, all things like that.

thinking when i get a exhaust manifold for it i'll get it remaped with a set of arp's
so that it will have a mapping set so it can pass its emissions.

will let you know the outcome with my sensor swapping.

think i got a bargen today

1 lower section of air box
1 cts (practicaly new)
1 MAP sensor (practicaly new)
1 drive belt tensioner pulley (looks new)

all for £10

still need a rear interior light bloody scrappers didnt have one

UPDATE:

Went to the garage today and he looked at the reading and said lambda. I said that its been done and he said leak in the exhaust then.

Soooo... I got home and checked and the only bit that was leaking was the thing that goes on the manifold SAI i think it is?

Wasnt bad at all but could see black around it. Took it off, made a gasket out of old an old inlet gasket and put it back on.

Rekon that could be it? Dont wana keep going to the MOT station with FAILs because he's gunna start charging me i think

did have the same problem about 4 yr ago with a x1.6 in my old car the (friendly) tester said the cat needs a few miles on it to get it working to emission standards, put about 120 motorway miles on it up and down the M56 it passed the next day

My mate said to get to the garage and when outside to disconnect an injector. The car will run like a bag of shit but it wont overfuel so therefore will pass emissions. May try it
