im sure the steering rack fails on exhaust mani so you will need a no pas steering rack and beat the manifold a bit

you can use a pas rack, beat the manifold, you have to shorten it not beat it

If you are fitting an ecotec one ie one out of a Vectra then you will need the front engine mounting bracket from a C25XE and an engine mount kit from the likes of Chris Astley M'sport. You will also need to move the flange on the rear exhaust manifold- I am doing mine at the minute so will post up a pic when its done. I have the engine sitting in the engine bay at the minute and I dont think I will need to modify the bulkhead because I am using the Vectra inlet manifolds.
The other thing is that there is no clearance issue on the drivers side where the alternator sits because the engine is narrower than a 2.0.
If you are using EPAS and removing the PAS pump then you will need to figure out the belt run for the aux drivebelt because the water pump runs off it. Im going to be running EPAS and electric water pump so that the only thing running off that belt is the alternator

yes it will. my local scrappy has 3 vectra v6s in complete. £80 each with loom and ecu, transponder etc. sounds like a plan. going down to scappies tommorow to pick one out. i think i will investigate more on the elec water pumps. one less thing pinshing bhp.

Here is my rear exhaust manifold modified to clear the steering rack- I should have a taken a pic before but if you look at the Vectra one before it has been modified it is much longer than this. The welding isnt very nice looking but you get the idea for the angle and length
These are the pics of the clearance to the starter and alternator
