eeww. I'd just remove them. If you want to just light them up then put 12v to the light wires on the gauges. Either take a feed from the light switch, or one from your ciggy lighter with a switch.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

undo your ashtray if you have one, there will be connecter, bridge into that (make sure you soldier and heat shrink the conection) run a nice 2 corsa wire up to where the gauges are and use connecter blocks or bullet connecters to the gauges, this way the lights will come on with igntion only

the volts gauge you can run from your ash tray light as mine was, that works fine,

the air fuel ratio gauge for a crude method you will need the signal wire from you lambda sensor to run it and possible an Earth,

and for the oil temp you will need to get a sandwich plate for your oil filter witch you can add a oil temp sender

that is a really bad place to have gauges tho as you cannot see them from the drivers seat, and you will be taking your eyes off the road to see what they are doing,

volt gauage is a really good gauge to have imo,
oil temp and pressure is good too!

i really wouldnt bother with the air/ fuel ratio gauge to be ohnest mate unless you are going to seriously tune the 1.6?

Personally I think the radio wiring is best as you have thw switch live, dimmer wiring and earth needed. Also the headlight switch would work.

Not sure tbh mate. You got a multi meter?
All you need to do is check for the wires going into the switch that's live with just your ignition on and then the wire that's live when side/headlights are turned on.
My gauge is wired to a permanent live which will be red, Switched live will be black, the dimmer wire i'm unsure of.

Could you connect gauges up to the speedo dimmer and make them brighter and dimmer with them?

As I said use the Stereo wiring, use the black so they light up when the ignition is on and find the dimmer wire, If I get time i'll test my Cavalier loom and see which is the dimmer wire as I can't remember of top of my head.
