if you do that it wont be automatic as well then.
You could bridge the wires over the fan switch whilst leaving them connected. This will mean that the fan is permanantly on but if you put a switch in it you can turn it off.
Would just need to check it still works automatically.

im not really fussed about it being automatic tbh ive wanted it to be manual for a long time just to keep the engine cool when stuck in traffic

In that case take the plug out of the fan swith on the rad and bridge the wires. That will me the fan is permantly on then and you can just put a switch in this wire.
imo its just a bit risky incase you forget one day

i know what you mean gavin, but after sitting in traffic to get in and out of pvs it was hitting over 100 degreess each time and the fan would come on then.

Ive been wondering this too...mine gets really really warm in traffic so you have to put the hot air on full blast inside:L
Does the fan only come on at 100 degrees?

yer about then. Although the guages arnt 100% accurate.
You can get cool running switches that bring the fan in earlier but people have mixed veiws on these. The point at where it comes in as standard is fine really

Just strip a bit of shielding off both wires and then run 1 wire off each to a switch. Keeps it auto and has the manual.

ive done it from the actaul fan unit, the connector that goes there so do you need to do it off the one off the bottom of the rad?

Aye, because it's the fan switch you want to over-ride when you flick the manual switch.
That's my understanding of it anyway.
