hi.
ive just stripped the engine on our project car and am a lil confused about the cam follower/buckets.
if you turn the buckets upside down theres a circular bit that pushes on the valves. these cum out with some persuasion. however, sum of the little circular things are spring loaded and can be pushed in and out, but others are solid. i have 9 solid 1's and 7 moveable 1's.
Should they all move or all be solid or should there b 8 that move and 8 that are solid. ie: solid inlet- moveable exhaust???
cheers

I think you're talking about tappets, not too sure?
How have you got to the stage of having them removed when you don't know the name of the things?

you are talking about the hydraulic lifters/buckets
they should all be solid , the ones you can push down are fooked and thats why they are tapping,
get a whole new set while your there
