Can anybody tell me the cheapest way to get my std. 1600 Sport to handle as well as my std. NovaGTE used to on the twisty bits! or have I bought the wrong model?

front and rear strut brace (if you can be assed) £120 for both, and it'll help a treat!

nova gte stuff is worse, its just the fact the corsa is a heavier car.

m2rv_h is down 85mm on 17's at the front and he has only just started to have to mod the front archs.

Strut braces do hardly anything to improve handling. They are for fine 'tuning' once you've got an excellent suspension set up. Rear ones do nothing full stop unless you have a really soggy shell and drive it like a rally car. I would hope that with all of the corsa's weight it would have a firm shell.......
The nova stuff will fit but wont make it any better. Its the design of the car and not the individual components I think.
If you purely want handling improvements then get some 35/40mm lowering springs and shocks. Anything lower than that is worse for handling on normal (not race tracks) roads.
You'll never get the handling of the nova without spending a fair bit.

Front strut brace only realy helps control torque steer on mine, rear does allow you to slide the car slightly instead of it snatching round.
Been told dampers are required really, mines only -40mm but bounces all over the place!!!

Stick to 14/15 inch wheels.
Lower upto 40mm with shocks and springs and handling will be dramatically improved.
On my 1.6 sport I have Apex -40mm springs with KYB gas shocks.
I Also have 17's though. The handling is good and i'm happy with it but would be even better
if I changed the wheels to something smaller.

Get 15 inch wheels and a 60mm drop all round on new springs and dampers and your laughin mate. I'm on 15inch monzas with apex springs and Spax VSX dampers handles like a dream....If your droppin more than 35-40mm i would advise new dampers all round...

I have 15" rims with 60mm drop, when its not stupidly bumpy the car handles perfectly, turn the stereo off and I can ignore the bumps and nail it even more.
I can take bigger standard cars on an whip them on country lanes because I can keep my speed through corners but they cannot.

get 15's about 7 wide lower about 30-35mm on upratd dampers and u'll be fine. Dont go stupid low as 60mm cos its a myth cars handle better the lower they are. If u go too low as marcus sed when bumpy it will skip and wont handle as well.
30mm eibach springs would the best bet if u just want to go for springs

thats not quite true, on a race track which has smooth roads lower is better, however on our rubbish roads you dont want to lower that much as there will be less suspention travel and our roads are bumpy so more chance of the back coming round etc...
