Author too much oil / different oil

right my car is smoking slightly, on start up mainly. the rest might just be condensation

checked my oil today and its slightly over the limit so wondering if it could be that thats making it smoke?

and if the car had 5w40 in it and i put 10w40 i it would that cause it to smoke?

more chances that 5w40 would cause it to smoke as its thinner..

What oil have you used? Castrol Magnatec is renound for being piss thin combined with its stupidly high detergent content it can properly fuck up old engines.

its just halford 10w40

dunno what the 5w40 is though as it was already in there

Halfords stuff should be fine

What colour is the smoke? Oil will burn blue and condensationw will be white.

Temperatures have just dropped so you will be getting more condensation.

but im colour blind so might be blue

its going in monday to get looked at, gonna tell them to do an oil change coz it looks a bit manky
