iphone 3gs = faster, compas (therefor better maps and direction capibilities) and has video camera

i have a 3gs, its same as 3g apart from camera and a bit faster.
if you dont take lots of mobile photo's/videos, save yourself the money and get the 3g

The 3gs is the smart choice, there's a lot more going on behind the scenes, including much better graphics support that will make a big difference in the near future.
Both are shit.

Yes they are the best marketed devices, but also the best devices imo.
Ive seen the HTCs, Windows mobiles and nokia equilivants, and the software is just not as nice imo.
Dont get me wrong, I was incredibly impressed with the HTC speed (something like 1ghz CPU / 512mb Ram, and it does show!), but the software is by far the best for me and my 3G.
Im due an upgrade in Feb, but I might hang on till June, they have released a new iphone June 08 and June 07.

I don't see how they are marketed any better than the likes of Nokia etc, they are good products which has helped boost the brand name, if they were shit no amount of marketing/advertisment would make them as popular as they are.
Nothing else comes close to the 3GS, the only advantages other phones have are better tariffs as if the tariffs were the same, companies know people would choose the iPhone.

John is quite right, but so is Ash, the product is great and the marketing is great.
Its marketed as a cool product, the same as all apples gear.
Its cool to own an apple mac but less cool to own a crappy pc or laptop.

The 3GS is the first good one though, the previous versions were massively sub par, missing features that phones have had for years, like mms, or forwarding messages, yet people still bought them.
With apple people don't buy it because it's good, they buy it because it's apple.

I agree that the original iPhone and the 3G sold due to marketing genius from Apple.
I said back in the day I'd never own due to it's lack of basic features.
I now own a 3GS now purely as Apple address all of those things. It's a more complete device now. Still not the finished product (I'd like a flash and a slightly better camera) but its head and shoulders over its predecessors.

Nope - The number of people I know that are VERY anti-apple - me included but the fact remains after messing around for too many Windows Mobiles phone it was silly to ignore..and once you get one you start using it for all sorts of jobs you never thought you would.

Windows mobile isn't the best example, windows mobile has been a terrible phone OS for anything but exchange integration for years.
Compare it to something like android where it quite frankly lags already.
