mines just died. not looking to spend alot but any recommendations and were to get one from?
also, are they just plug and play, easy for me to fit?

ebuyer, dabs etc.. all the usual places from the sticky thread above.
You can get a 24x speed for about £18 now. The are plug and play, you just need to make sure if your old one has a SATA or IDE socket. Easy to fit just usually a couple of screws at the side of the writer to secure to your case.

not sure which one mine is, just had a look and it has,
a flat yellow cable and
a black plug with a yellow, red and 2 black wires going to it.

If the power cable going to the drive has this connector on it:
then you have an IDE drive.
If instead it looks like this:
then you have a SATA drive.

Ooops too late, Sam has already covered it . Either are just as cheap and should be able to get one under £20 anyway.
