Edit to the post... wanting a 4 digit domain... examples - http://om.ly - http://is.gd
£10 to anybody who finds me a couple
Following on from this thread: http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=536520
I'm now wanting a domain name to put my own version of tinyurl onto it, only thing is i'm having a bit of a blank moment and don't have a clue what to call it.
Will be putting it online and trying my hand at SEO, to try and get it up in the Google Ranks, i'm not trying to make any money off it before people say it's a waste of time, its just for learning purposes.
The site basically takes massive URLS like...
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=x71&q=this+is+an+extremely+large+url+to+use+as+an+example+for+corsasport+dot+co+dot+uk%2C+to+show+what+tiny+url+does+as+a+website&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=
And makes them smaller like this...
http://tinyurl.com/yez6r3y
Tiny url also has an option to name your URL what you want;
example...
http://tinyurl.com/corsasportexample
So yeah....
I have no idea what to call it, it must be quite short, and as catch as possible.
I was thinking of a random made up word, if not something similar to "Make your web url smaller"
Thanks for any help

make the url as short as possible and random, and use two character TLDs .tv/.fm/.me etc if you can. Remember short urls are mainly used for twitter and social sites (+mobile i suppose) where you have character limits and tbh no one really cares what the site is called as long as the url's are as short as possible.
edit - personally i would go with something completely random like 8xk.me, 12t.me, means nothing but it's short as hell....

Gotta watch going too short though, you at least want something people will remember.

myho.me

I've noticed a lot of the url shortening doing this using the thing after the dot as part of the name.

I tried to get me.to but the silly billy who owns it wanted £10k for it. I let him keep it, my idea was to have it as http://take.me.to or http://tk.me.to or whatever, the 'take' or the 'tk' wouldn't actually matter in a practical sense.

Bare in mind actual URL addresses help with SEO. As does the page title tag.
is URL.[something] available?
