Just got a laptop and cant get it to connect to my wireless BT internet, it connects, refresh the page and it loads up a site then about 5 seconds later it cuts off and says "cannot connect due to timeout or user action" along those lines.... help...

So its not the router then or the wireless set up.
I presume you can find the router using the wireless on the laptop, it connects (do you have to put in the WEP or something?) and then it kicks you off?

Yeh, it finds it, I type in a code off the back of the homehub, it connects, lets me load up a site then kicks me off then pisses me off

Oh and the Laptop connects to the internet in my birds house with no problems

Oh is it a pain in the arse BT homehub thing?
IIRC doesnt it have 2 options you can connect to when you search for wireless signals? Have you tried the other one?

Erm, no not that I'm aware of? In the list there is BTHomeHub which the PCs connected to now, BTFON (unsecured network) and BTOpenzone (unsecured network) have tried connecting to all three but does the same thing with them all. The others in the list are out of range.

hmmm, well if the same one as the pc is on then is the right one. You def using the right wep code or whatever?

Sounds daft, but have you tried re-installing the wireless drivers on the laptop?

Just tried all the codes on the back of the homehub and they all say cannoct connect, the one ive been connecting with says "succesfully connected" then I get a yellow triangle with a black exclamation which then turns into a red cross in the bottom right hand corner by the clock where its disconnected.

You got the security settings on the homehub set up so only certain devices can connect?

Right click my computer > Properties > Device Manager > Network Adapters.
There will be at least 2 (or should be), right-click and press uninstall on the wireless one (it will have WiFi in the name). Reboot, drivers should re-install automatically when Windows boots back.
