Will be looking to purchase a new TV at the end of July-ish, so plenty of time for planning
My current TV is a 32" cheapo thing from ebuyer, it's served me well tbh - but the size and lack of 1080p is grinding on me, and I feel my Telly is holding back my frail effort at a home cinema!
Viewing distance is about 2-2.5meters
I'm quite limited for size at the front, here's my current setup:
iPhone picture quality
Physically I could get 50" on there, but anything over 37-42 will mean relocating my speakers, and i've got no idea where to. To the left of that shot is the kitchen, and to the right - my stairs
I think i'll look at a 46", which will give me a little space to play.
I'm happy to go Plasma or LCD - I know the pro's and con's of each, but the big con stopping me going plasma is the relative lack of choice for my size at 1080p - so LCD is looking more likely for that reason.
Only needs two HDMI inputs, as my amp does 4.
Price I'm thinking around £650.
Feel free to list some suggestions, or even just a good place to make some comparisons! Also up for suggestions regarding my speaker location, I'm tempted to dump em' for some floor standers and place them on the floor directly infront of the current location - but they'll only go flying next time I've had a few too many and get a bit giddy on the xbox

personally i dont think you would need anything over a 42" in the bedroom? you would need loads of viewing space and it would give off shit loads of heat.
a 37" LCD would be my recommendation for you.

It's my front-room, quite open as it's got a little open-plan kitchen too - so heat isn't much of a problem. I'm just really tight for space in the alcove for the telly

Sonys have got a £100 off when you trade in your old telly. Tescos/Currys have some good offers on Sony TVs. You could either trade in your existing telly, or find a crap one and trade that in instead. Apparently, it doesn't need to be a working one either, as long as the screen is intact.

Good Shout, I'm kinda hoping to keep hold of my current TV for the bedroom though...still £100 is more than it's worth, so might be worth doing this and buying another bedroom telly later
I've been playing around with the tape measure, if I was to wallmount my speakers at either side of the TV - I could get around 1000mm between them. From looking at the spec sheets of a few TV's, that translates to around 40".
....Then I started thinking about projector and 102" screeen..
How much are 1080p projectors going for now?
