Hi Guys,
My father has decided that his computer is nearly dead (after 8 years I agree.)
I am struggling to chose the correct CPU/COOLER/RAM/MOBO combo.
The mobo should ideally be fairly decent at graphics. (Although I do have an old 3650 I can give him if it helps?)
I would like to go down the i5/i7 route with 4GB RAM.
Here is the rest of the kit:
So there is about £350-400 max for the CPU/COOLER/RAM and MOBO.
All help appreciated!!

My recommendation - If you're getting Win7, get atleast Professional edition.

What will the machine be used for? Just to give us an idea of what sort of spec would be needed

- Audio processing (Cooledit Pro)
- Photoshop - Light use
- ALOT of un-zipping and moving data to the storage drives.
- Network media serving
TBH The main purpose of the build is to get a new computer that has enough storage and uses decent quality parts that will stand the test of time.
Scan have this on offer today:
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, 1.65V
Intel Core i5 750, Lynnfield 45nm, Quad Core, 2.66GHz, 8MB Cache, 95W, Retail
For £238.51
Sounds more than adequate, just need a decent mother board to go with it.

Thats quite a spec very nice
I assume the 3 storage drives will run in RAID? if so what configuration (just out of interest )
On the motherboard front, I'm not sure on model's for the later CPU's, but I've been very impressed with my Gigabyte board and would recommend them

I owe him £750 so this is only costing him £250
I have no idea about the motherboard. Is that a good or bad spec?

The board looks well spec'd to me although...were you intending on raiding the 3 storage drives? if so, what config? as that board only supports RAID 0 and 1
