Sounds like a wine/rattle from the gearbox/clutch (I listened and thats where its from)

Goes away when the clutch is depressed

Car stalls when put and 5th and normal start is attempted

Biting point hasnt changed

Any ideas?

the noise from the gearbox could be the clutch release bearing? I had the exact same thing on my Ibiza i used to have and that went away whenever i put the clutch pedal down

See I thought straight away it was a bearing (not a clue which bearing, but it just sounds like a dead bearing)

aye, still wont be a cheap fix for the owner, gearbox will still need removed?

I've never done it before, but yeah, should be a gearbox off job

Told her to take it to a mechanic round the corner so he can tell her whats up before taking it to ford & they try and say the clutch or something is dead

yeah ha, always best to know whats wrong with it before you go to a main dealers garage and they try fleecing you for everything you have
