My water pump sprocket is rattling and is loose on the wheel? what is going on! I recently changed the head gaskett but didn't touch the water pump at all, i just left it where it was but now its making an awful noise!
Surely there is a way to make it stay on the wheel as its not bolted on it looks like it just sits.... any ideas?

How do you know it's the waterpump? And I'm assuming you mean the pulley that the cambelt goes round?
The sprocket is the bit that actually locates in the side of the engine.

Yes the pulley that the cambelt goes round, it doesnt have a thread or any bolts to bolt it on so i want to know how to keep it on there because we havent touched it so i dont know how it would have broken?
We think its the water pump because thats the only pulley that is loose, its making the belt slip off a bit as well where its moving, we havent run it since as we dont want to re build the whole engine...

Right, so the pulley is loose on the shaft? If so, for the sake of £20 I'd be getting a new pump rather than trying to repair that one.
It's a bit odd that it'd just randomly fuck up though.

it will have buggerd up as you just done the head gasket, so the cambelt must have been off, re-tensioning it put more stress on it. Hence why you should always change it for the sake of £20
