Put the bolts through the pressure plate finger tight and they will stay still, work in a star type direction in stages upto the required torque setting, as more torque is applied the fingers will move. Make sure they are all at the same 'height'.

You do mean that the fingers move in towards the engine block and not in towards the gearbox bellhousing (shouldn't be possible) don't you?

What's the story, is it a simple clutch change or is it a transplant/box change etc? Do you know if the cable is ok? Selector fork etc? Did you do them to the specified settings?

When you say the pedal is low, do you mean where it physically sits within the cabin or where it bites?

well the gearbox was noise i forght it was the reease bearing so got the new clutch but turns out it is the gearbox that needs replacing i think the cable is ok seems ok

were going to check the selctor fork 2mora incase my dad put it in the wrong way

what do you mean by specified settings? followed the hayes manuel

the pedal is low physically sitting really low in the cockpit
