When I moved into my own place - worst mistake I made was buying a cheap ass washing machine... and I think I'm about to pay for it.

The washing machine is a 'servis 1300', it powers on but then won't start any programs - doesn't even try to spin up or pump with water. Tried emptying the load, halving the load, no go!

Any plumbers or washing machine pro's have anything to suggest? I don't think it's worth getting a repair guy out, unless it's likely fixable for <£50 or something.

Any help would be grand!

Cheap washers arent all bad? Our £160 Beko (brand new) is still going strong 2.5 years down the line. If it powers on but doesnt do anything maybe the waste pipe is blocked? Have you tried emptying the filter pump? There should be a little door on the front at the bottom you can open up and clean a load of shit out of there

Also check that filter at the back isn't blocked. Sadly most appliance repairs are £100+ at least (i'm a letting agent) so get yourself on ebay and buy a replacement.

You'll get a decent parts and labour warranty though.

1 year labour, 5 year parts normally, if the parts fail within the parts warranty why should you have to pay to have them replaced?

I only know this because I had to deal with another one last week, £400 and lasted just over a year, also depends on how much they are used.

I'm just going by the sticker on my one

My old Smeg washing machine was a piece of crap, good job I didn't have to pay for repairs on it. That was the landlords problem

most machines have safety built into them so if the machine dones fill or it doesnt get power when it should it shuts down...

Aight, had a day troubleshooting it today (thanks for all the suggestions). Everything seemed fine, so the only thing I could think of was an electrical fault - I managed to get to the circuit board behind all the controls, and part of it was quite badly corroded

After googling the price of replacement parts, I went into town and bought a new machine!

It arrives on Monday, can't wait to play with it
