Over the last fews days iv been getting a whirring type noise what sounds like is coming from the coil pack or it is coming from around that side of the engine but not 100% sure and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar type noise coming from that side of the engine and was it the coil pack.

sure it isnt something to do with the sai unit? Try unplugging that and see if you still get the noise.

I currently dont have the SAI system on mine mate it was removed and blanked off when the 4 branch was fitted.

Anyone experienced a similar kind of noise coming from that side of the engine?

Could be thrust bearing in gear box, It might be a small split in the conecting rubber from inlet to throttle body , the coil pack shouldn`t make any noise, It`s not mechanical.
