What sort of notice period is usually given for a landlord to terminate a contract?

Just been sorting a new place to stay and this landlord can terminate my contract with a weeks notice

You have the contract for a reason, they shouldnt be able to kick you out

You'd want proper legal advice.

I'd guess the landlord is offering you a 'license' rather than a lease of the house share. If so, then he doesn't have the follow the tenant protection laws.

However the Protection from Eviction Act says you can't be evicted with less than 4 weeks notice regardless.
