Just a couple of things to ask, before you did it did the symtoms match mine:
- at slow speeds around small streets the car kangaroos around and it's hard to keep the revs between 1.5-3k, happening every now and then. Not constantly.
- as long as you're being 'enthusiastic' with your driving it's as if there's no problem.
- and the engine management light comes on intermintally.
I've got all these things wrong but when i read the codes all I get is the usual crank sensor low voltage (since the engine's not running when I'm doing it), how do I find out what code the EML is coming on for if it's not on constantly? I've had this problem with an old engine I had in the car and now with a new engine I've got as well, if anyone's got any suggestions as to what it might be it'd be appreciated.

i cleaned my icv out with carb cleaner then used an airline to dry it and had no issues with it sinse doing it, the best way to fond the codes that have activated is find someone with proper diagnostic equipment, i got the citroen scanned in ek and the guy told my the date the light came on, what rev's and speed etc the car was travelling at when it came on lol very detailed but hes expensive

Cheers Davie, might look into that if cleaning the ICV out doesn't help.
Actually meant to say Mark, I fitted a new lambda sensor yesterday since that's what I thought was causing it - it seemed to fix it and the EML went off for a day, but it's started again earlier on today. It was a universal one bought brand new.

I had the ICV cleaned yesterday and now its fine. Mine did the same as yours.

Aye mate, white to white x2 then just black to black. The white ones are the heater and it said on the booklet the polarity doesn't matter. I'll give it a go cleaning the control valve today and let you all know how I get on.

Just fitted an ICV that I had sitting spare after a clean out with some spirits, blew it dry with the compressor and sprayed a wee scoot of WD40 in it. Went out for a drive, got it nice and hot (the point it usually starts it shite) but it was fine. Much better than before, doesn't cut out or missfire and just seems an improvement overall.
