I want to get Windows 7 and had planned to get the 64 bit version so it recognises my 4GB of RAM.

I started looking into it and found this website:

http://www.lytebyte.com/2009/08/04/how-to-check-if-my-processor-is-x86-32-bit-or-x64-64-bit-in-windows/

Everything I tried on there suggested it was 32-bit, but when I ran CPU-Z, it told me my CPU is an AMD Athlon 64. Surely that is 64 bit?

The "64" in the CPU name is a big clue...

But seriously, in future it's easier to just check the spec on the manufacturer's website rather than some random website. Straight from the horse's mouth and all that.

Well thats what I thought but when I followed the instructions on the website above every one I tried suggested it wasn't 64 bit. Even when you read what it tells you to look for on CPU-Z it suggests it's 32 bit.
