Picked up a stupid virus called security tool. Found a few downloads that claim to get rid of it but then scan your computer for half an hour then demand $50 or something. Anyone no of any good free ones that work?

Use Malwarebytes (free) to remove it.
Then buy a proper AV system not the free shite that's available.

AVG is bloated to high hell in terms of a anti-virus. Better of with 'Avast' which is a lot lot quicker and doesn't gobble memory.
As for Malware/Spyware, i use a combination of 'Spyware Blaster' and 'Spybot Search & Destroy'. Just keep them updated.
And you don't need a firewall like 'Zonealarm', it simply isn't needed under XP, Vista or Windows 7. If you run Windows 7 and you want more control of the firewall then i'd recommend you download 'Windows 7 Firewall Control' - ie: gives you the options to allow/deny certain applications access to your network/internet access.
