Need a home phone for my new place, but everything I've seen looks rubbish and doesn't do as much as my desire.
What I want is to have a base-station that my desire can link up with, so if someone dials my home number it rings my mobile (if I'm at home), otherwise takes a message or something. So basically a cordless DECT set-up but using my mobile rather than some cheap plasticy handset.
Tried searching, but no idea what I should be searching for
Any ideas people?

Can you forward calls to your mobile?

Don't know. Don't want the calls permantely forwarded though, only when I'm near the base.
Probably asking for too much tbh.

But surley if you forward them to your mobile. your mobile will take all your incoming calls to the house when your not at home.

There are Android home phones now but they are quite pricey

Ive had a quick look, there are some products but mainly for business users e.g Burnside
Speaking to your service provider for your home phone would probably be best.

Might sound odd but thats I want to keep it separate if I can.
I'm hoping to give out my home number for my photography work so I'd rather people leave a message at home and I get back to them later rather than them getting straight through to my mobile and I sound miserable cos I'm busy or something
Cheers Aurora, I'll give them a ring

Just get everyone to ring your mobile? Or use skype/voip and get another number for that?
Or Binatone's iHome should be out sometime next month, early next year. There's also the Glass by Cloud Telecomputers which is out soon, but it's not cordless.

I've got to take out the home phone to get broadband so might as well use it.
Handy to split personal from photography whilst I'm at it. Not strictly necessary, but handy.
I'll look into those two options

Yeah that's the Binatone iHome, didn't realise it had been released. Although it's only runs Donut 1.6 - Be interesting to see if it can be rooted though

If it's like any other iDect stuff then it's probably best to avoid it
