EGR stands for exhaust gas re-circulation.
when its open, it lets some of the exaust gasses back into the inlet manifold to be re-burnt, to take out any unburnt fuel particles and such. Its for emissions reduction. if its stuck closed for example, you would use a slight amount more fuel as its not re using the vapour that wasnt burnt. if it was stuck open, there would be a lack of power at low revs as your always burning dirty mixture

the thing that heats the cat up is the SAI i thought ? and as he said EGR exhaust gas recirculation for emissions

yeah the secondary air injection valve blows clean air into the exaust manifold to get the cat up to operating temperature.. thats also for emissions though, wouldnt imagine it would cause it to use fuel

could try servicing it and using shell super unleaded or a cleaner or something for abit heard it cleans it out abit and some people said it runs better again

would just mean that your always supplying a "clean" mixture, more fuel vapour in th exaust, more likely to spit flames

ive never seen it done so i wouldnt know... no point doing it to my 12 valve. my guess is that if it did have any improvment, it would only be slight and hardly noticable, if nothing at all, unless it was tuned to run on a higher octane racing fuel

Wrong actually, Most of the time the EGR is closed, Thus meaning it is a "clean" mixture, Its only sometimes it opens, Its when they get stuck in the open position they cause problems.
There isnt any gain in blanking, Its just to stop it from causing problems, Not really worth it unless fitting a powerbox on a baby xe or if you have issues.
