Want it formatted to FAT32 so I can put movies on it and then the PS3 can read them straight off the hard drive. Windows only lets you do it up to 38GB or something.
I used swissknife and formatted it to FAT32 and it didn't work, so I created a 4GB partition in FAT32 with windows disk management and tried it and it worked fine, so swissknife must be shit
Any reccomendations on what software to use?

What drive is it? WD do a piece of software I've used to format a 1TB drive of theirs, not sure if it would work with other manufacturers though?

FAT32 supports drives up to 2TB in size only, so if your drive is bigger then it won't work.

Its only 500GB. It is actually in FAT32 at the moment but the PS3 just won't read it for some reason, yet when I formatted with the windows version it read it fine
I'll try diskpart then, cheers pow

You will need to get some sort of file chopper to fit on big mkv files.
I use MKV2VOB works well splits files into 4gb chunks.
