putting my mates corsa c20xe back together for him, where does the battery neutral wire go, on the starter?

You don't have a ground on the starter, in has it's own one. I just earth out the gearbox from the battery.

^Your right in saying that the starter earths though its own body, but the earth should go onto one of the starter bolts (that holds it onto the block) as then there is less resistance and less chance of a dodgy earth, Plus its the way vauxhall done it.
